Verhelst Machines is supporting the construction project at the former slaughterhouse site in Antwerp, where we are collaborating with the temporary business association of Hooyberghs and Houben. For this project, we are providing the rental and assembly of five Wolff tower cranes, including one crane from Hooyberghs itself and four rental cranes from Verhelst Machines.
"De Hallen" is a new project, the construction of a new city district on the historic slaughterhouse site in Antwerp. The project includes the development of a residential complex with 227 apartments, alongside office and retail spaces. This Urban Living project is located at Kalverstraat 2 - 4 and Lange Lobroekstraat 122 - 124.
To date, we have installed three cranes on the construction site: a Wolff 7534, a 6031, and a 6020. These cranes were chosen for their reliability and ability to efficiently carry out construction work. Each of these cranes is equipped with modern safety features, such as an anti-collision system and a trolley camera. The installation of the two additional cranes, a Wolff 8033 and another 6020, is still planned for this spring.
Adjustments Due to Subsoil and Existing Structures
Given the challenging subsoil and the early works on a small city square, it was not possible to place seven cranes as originally planned. Therefore, it was decided to use five cranes and supplement them with other solutions. Part of these solutions is that we will keep the heaviest crane, the Wolff 8033, in place for a longer period.
Why B&R Logistics Chooses Wolff Cranes
The choice of B&R Logistics for Wolff Cranes is mainly due to the very good price-quality ratio. Within the B&R Group, they already own eight Wolff Cranes, including five iconic Wolff 7534 cranes and 3 Wolff 6031.12 cranes. This preference is further supported by the positive feedback from the crane operators, who particularly appreciate the reliability and minimal downtime due to malfunctions.
The collaboration with B&R Group, which includes Hooyberghs, ****runs smoothly as always, resulting in streamlined preparation and a seamless assembly process. This efficient collaboration enables us to respond quickly and effectively to project needs.
